Woodlands 2020 Parent Meeting 5 November

Please remember the Parents’ Information evening for Woodlands 2020 at 3.20pm on Tuesday 5 November.  Please note this is for parents and guardians only and there is no creche available.

Thank you

Week ending 4 October

The children have already produced some fabulous pieces of descriptive work in English.  We are starting to work on a persuasive letter to Hades – god of the Underworld!

In maths, we are continuing with place value and number and continuing our recap of the times tables.

A gentle reminder, the school trip to the Ashmolean takes place on Tuesday 22 October.  Letters were emailed – please return the letters as soon as possible.  Any problems, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Thank you. Have a lovely weekend.

Welcome to Year 5

Welcome to Year 5, the children have started the year fantastically.  They are engaged, focused and ready to learn.

We are looking at Ancient Greece this term and have been learning about the gods and the associated myths.  The children have created some wonderful character descriptions using figurative language.

Our first week of maths was spent learning that whilst number fact knowledge is very important, maths is also about thinking, collaborating and having the faith in yourself to just have a go.  We will spend the rest of the term looking at number (including Roman numerals and negative numbers) and place value up to 6 digits and decimals to thousandths.

In science, we are exploring Space, learning about the planets.

In PSHE, we are learning about our rights and responsibilities and why have rules.  We are starting to look at how you might go about making changes in our environments.
